Omaha Outdoors $250 Scholarship – Expires January 2016

As we say at Omaha Outdoors, we don’t buck around, and that’s why we are so excited to announce our 2015 scholarship program which will see one lucky student winning a $250 scholarship award.

We are asking students to submit a short story on the topic of outdoor living.

The main details of the competition are as follows:

Omaha Outdoors will award $250 to the applicant we consider has submitted the best entry.

You must be at least 18 years of age.

To be eligible for entry, you must be currently attending a U.S college or university, or will be attending in the fall of 2015.


Our judges are looking for the best short story that is based on outdoor living, so there are plenty of opportunities to create an exciting or interesting essay on this subject.

The story should be a minimum of 400 words and can cover anything you think will appeal to the Omaha Outdoors judges.

Closing Date

The closing date for the competition is November 1, 2016 and the winner will be selected shortly afterwards.

Awarding the Prize

After Omaha Outdoors has decided the winner, they will be notified and the scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient’s college or university.


Please be aware that Omaha Outdoors will not contact individual applicants unless they are the chosen recipient of the scholarship award.

Documents Required from the Winner

If you are lucky enough to win the prize being awarded, please be aware that there are some documents that we will need to satisfy the competition rules.

These are as follows:

  • Copyright Assignment
  • IRS Form W-9
  • Copy of United States Driver’s License
  • Headshot photograph in high-resolution, either digitally or as a JPEG or TIFF file

How will my essay be judged?

The main criteria that we will use to judge your essay will be creativity, specificity and we will also attach some importance to grammar.
