After a half year of rumors and anticipation, the War Sport Costa Ludus edition AR-15 is now available. This carbine is the product of a close collaboration between Costa Ludus, a company that knows what shooters really need, and War Sport, a firearms manufacturing company that is without peer at manufacturing them. With that combination of expertise, the result is bound to be exceptional.
This specially designed and manufactured firearm – call it the WSCL for short – is meant for individuals who want to have the best carbine when the stakes are at their highest. It is meant to be light, fast-handling, reliable and, most importantly, manufactured to the highest level of quality. As Chris Costa teaches in his weapons manipulations courses, a firearm has to be able to function as well as its operator, even under the most stressful conditions.
We should point out that Costa Ludus, headquartered in Jackson, Wyoming, is one of the premiere practical shooting training companies in the United States. Every year they hold classes throughout the United States, offering several levels of courses in weapons manipulation (both handgun and carbine), as well as tactical operations techniques. Years of experience in using (and by their own admission) abusing firearms has taught them what a shooter needs to achieve the highest score – survival – in a life-or-death scenario.
War Sport, in Robbins, North Carolina, is an advanced manufacturer of advanced weapons systems and LVOA (Low Visibility Operation/Applications) equipment “for the modern war fighter.” War Sport firearms and other products are prized not only by military and other government entities, but by serious civilian shooters. Their high-tech facility allows them to manufacture components in-house to the highest technical standards.
Collaboration between these two companies has resulted in the WSCL AR-15. It is, of course, chambered for .223 Remington/5.56x45mm NATO, but uses the .223 Wylde chamber. This is a proprietary hybrid chamber developed by Bill Wylde of Greenup, Illinois and is used by a select number of firearms manufacturers who make National Match-grade rifles. It is designed with the dimensions and lead angle that accept both the civilian and slightly larger military cartridges, including the 80-grain ammunition.
The barrel is 14.7″ long, made from 4150CM steel to LVOA Match standards. These barrels, manufactured in-house at War Sport, have a 1:8 RH twist. A War Sport GP Compensator is included, pinned and welded to the barrel due to its length.
The stock is an adjustable Magpul CTR, with a Magpul MIAD pistol grip. The trigger is a Geissele SSA-E. The carbine does not include iron sights. Extras include a Battle Arms 90 Degree Selector, QD End Plate and the first and last position on the rail.
Weighing in at 7.0 pounds, the overall length is 31 to 35 inches. The color is Costa Grey. Needless to say, the fit and finish are at War Sport’s high standards. The combination of Costa Ludus’ operational expertise and War Sport’s manufacturing quality will make this carbine an instant classic. We are proud to offer the outstanding War Sport Costa Ludus Edition of the AR-15 for sale.
