The Evolution of High Standard

High Standard has come a long way since its founding in Hamden, Connecticut back in 1926. At that time, they worked merely as a supplier for various companies in that area. In 1932, they purchased Hartford Arms and Equipment company and began manufacturing their own .22 pistols. During World War II, the company expanded some more, providing .50 caliber machine guns and parts to the military. By the 1950s, its .22 has become a staple in the competitive shooting circuit, but the next major development came in 1968, when the company acquired the Leisure Group. Hard times followed, but in 1993 the company moved from Hamden to Houston, Texas, where it now produces a variety of different firearm designs.

High Standard’s .22 Caliber Pistol

High Standard produces a variety of .22 caliber pistols, all designed to offer target shooters an excellent platform that they can really get behind at the range. The Victor model is one of their basic offerings and remains a popular target model today. It offers a 2.25 lb. trigger pull and comes available in a variety of configurations, including a 4.5” barrel and 5.5” barrel model. Whatever configuration you select, the handgun is sure to last a lifetime and comes with adjustable sights to provide the best accuracy.

The Olympic model is another great option and offers a 5.5” barrel design. It is chambered in .22 Short and is made with a lightweight aluminum alloy slide and carbon fiber steel frame. The barrel includes a universal mount to make attaching optics easy. If you want even more accuracy, the Olympic Trophy model is chambered in .22 LR and offers an impressive 8” or 10” barrel for consistent shots at the range. They also produce a variety of other target models to ensure you can find what you need.

High Standard’s Take on the 1911

Unlike some companies today that offer the 1911 in all variety of calibers, High Standard sticks to the basics, offering 5” models in both .45 ACP and .38 Super. Whichever option you go with, the different models features a classic Model 1911 A1 design, including the wood grips and steel frame. If you want a competition-ready model, the Camp Perry Model is the way to go. This 1911 offers a 4 lb. trigger, high profile sights, a beveled magazine well for quicker reloads, and is tuned for competitive use.

The HSA-15 Rifle

Usually chambered in 5.56 NATO / .223 Rem, the HSA-15 is also available in .300 AAC. The standard configuration offers a 16” barrel with a 1:9 twist and comes with a fixed front sight block. They also produce models that use a 1:7 twist, 1:8 twist, and offer a variety of different barrel lengths and finishes to provide the unique performance you need. All come with standard accessory rails to ensure you can attach the components you need and some are configured specially for competition performance.

High Standard’s Other Rifles

The Enforcer is one of the company’s other rifle designs. This model uses a free-floating aluminum quad rail for accessory attachment and comfortable grip. It offers a 16” M4 style barrel with an A2 flash hinder attached. It utilizes Magpul parts, including the pistol grip, vertical grip, enhanced trigger guard, and PMAG. The 7075-T6 aluminum upper and lower receivers are hard coat anodized to provide a more solid construction that is resilient to the elements. Though the standard model is chambered in 5.56 / .223 Rem, it is also available in .300 AAC.

The Crusader is another popular rifle model. It uses the same quality upper and lower design as the Enforcer. It offers a two stage trigger to provide better performance under real working conditions and offers ambidextrous controls to ensure anyone can use it. If you want to work exclusively with Magpul parts, the Crusader and Enforcer are both available in MOE configurations as well, which ensures that all the components possible come from Magpul.

Finally, the Lone Star is another 5.56 NATO / .223 Rem model offered by High Standard. It sets itself apart not just with the Lone Star laser engraving but also by offering the Versa handguard system, which makes for the best shooting experience for a tactical shooter.
